Feijoa is an unusual fruit but it is gaining traction and popularity now that there are some mature orchards in Northern Califonia. Feijoa has a distincly tropical flavor hints of pineapple, pear, quava, kiwi, and mint. We infuse our hand crafted rum with fresh feijoa and let it mascerate for a couple of weeks before removing the fruit. Then it goes in a barrel to rest for a couple of years.
I really like this rum in a Mojito. Muddle some fresh lime and mint with a little raw sugar in a shaker. Add Feijoa Rum and ice shake well. Pour in a tall glass of ice and top up with club soda. This is a unique experience.
This rum is also really good with tonic and ice!
