Salal, Thimble berry, Salmon berry, Red huckleberry, and Black huckleberry are native berries to coastal Oregon. We have these hand picked fresh for our Oregon Berry Rum. We freeze them to rupture the cells prior to maceration. We place them in the rum to infuse, remove and then press them to get everything out of them that we can. The rum goes into a used barrel to rest for at least a year prior to bottling.
Salal is the first flavor you will notice. It is deep, fruity, and unmistakeable. The rest of the berries follow for a truly unique Oregon coast flavor experience. This rum is wonderful neat, on ice, or mixed with a little club soda or ginger ale. We mix it with some fresh orange, lime, and pineapple juice for a summer punch.
